Park Bom Issues Statement on Past Drug Scandal, Claims Treatment for ADHD

Park Bom of 2NE1 has spoken out regarding a previous drug-related controversy. On the 3rd, she posted on social media, saying, “I’m being cautious for fear it might cause another uproar, but I’ll speak up with courage,” and explained the controversy surrounding Adderall, a medication containing amphetamine.

Park Bom stated that she suffers from ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). She claimed, “That (Adderall) isn’t a drug. I’m a patient with ADD,” adding, “At that time, there were no such medications as Adderall in the country, nor were there any laws regarding them.” She explained that she took Adderall to treat her symptoms.

Park Bom also pointed fingers at Sandara Park, a member of the same group. On social media, she alleged, “Park Sandara got caught using drugs, so they framed Park Bom as a drug user to cover it up.” She further pleaded, “I hope they stop reporting to the authorities that I used more drugs than the allowed amount, when I haven’t used any drugs at all for almost 30 years.”

A close associate of Park Bom said in a subsequent phone call, “This happened because of her health instability. We ask for your understanding.”

Sandara Park’s agency did not respond. Her former agency, Abyss Company, only stated that her exclusive contract had expired. Sandara Park had been active under an exclusive contract with Abyss Company since 2021.

Park Bom’s Adderall controversy arose in 2010. At that time, she brought amphetamine—a controlled substance in Korea—into the country via international mail without customs declaration or approval from the Food and Drug Safety Administration. The prosecutor confirmed it was for treatment purposes and decided to suspend prosecution.
