G-Dragon Wore Shirt with Racist Message During K-Spark Performance; Agency Issues Official Apology

G-Dragon faced criticism from international fans for wearing a shirt featuring a racist message during his K-Spark in Macau performance. The shirt he wore on the stage in Macau on May 2 displayed the text “RONNY, EEN GEILE NEGER__ JONGEN.”

This text was written in Dutch and carried a racist intent. “EEN GEILE” means sexually excited, while “NEGER” is a term used to demean black people. Even though a jacket was worn over the shirt, the words were clearly visible, and they became exposed when G-Dragon turned his back.

Global fans immediately pointed out this issue. As concerns spread across social media, G-Dragon’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, quickly issued a statement. The agency said, “We sincerely apologize for including wording that was inappropriate given social and cultural contexts.”

The agency added, “Through this incident, we have once again recognized the importance of greater cultural sensitivity and careful consideration.” It further stated, “We will thoroughly review and improve our internal processes, including styling checks, to operate under more cautious standards.”
