G-Dragon’s 100+ Cyberbullers Punished Legally with Fines of 2 Million to 7 Million Won

Over 100 individuals who created malicious posts targeting G-Dragon have been subject to legal action under the Information Network Act. In a statement released on August 4, his agency, Galaxy Corporation, revealed that some of these offenders received summary judgments imposing fines ranging from 2 million to 7 million won. The agency also stated that numerous other cases are still under investigation and in the judicial process.

Galaxy Corporation issued an official statement on August 4 affirming its ongoing legal efforts to protect G-Dragon’s reputation and rights by addressing various illegal activities online, including defamation, dissemination of false information, insults, malicious slander, and violations of personal dignity and privacy.

In February of this year, the agency filed complaints with law enforcement against over 100 people who committed such acts, accusing them of violating laws related to the promotion of information networks and information protection, specifically regarding defamation. To date, many of these cases have been processed by law enforcement agencies and courts, with some suspects found guilty and referred to prosecutors or subjected to criminal trials.

It was confirmed that illegal activities conducted through anonymous accounts can also be punished. Galaxy Corporation emphasized that even if malicious posts are created using anonymous accounts, investigators can trace the authors, leading to actual criminal penalties, thereby highlighting that anonymity is not guaranteed.

Evidence gathered by the agency and reports from fans played a crucial role in identifying the perpetrators and proving their offenses. Galaxy Corporation stated that it will hold accountable all those involved in ongoing cases to the end and will promptly take necessary legal action, such as filing complaints, against any newly discovered illegal activities. The agency further warned that it will enforce a zero-tolerance policy toward severely harmful illegal acts, without any leniency or settlement.
