SM C&C Appoints Former SBS Entertainment Head Choi Young-in as New President

SM C&C announced on August 3 that it has appointed Choi Young-in, former head of entertainment at SBS, as the new president of its entertainment business division. With 36 years of experience in the content industry, President Choi is a key figure who has driven Korean entertainment content throughout her career at various broadcasting stations and production companies.

President Choi graduated from the Department of Oriental History at Seoul National University before working at EBS and SBS for 36 years. Starting at EBS, she later served as head of entertainment at SBS, where she led content planning, production, and organizational management. Subsequently, she took on the role of president of the production division at Studio Prism, overseeing content creation and business diversification while operating across both broadcasting and production fields.

Programs such as “Ambitious,” “Healing Camp,” “Fantastic Duo,” and “Ugly But Dear,” all created under President Choi’s leadership, are iconic in Korean entertainment history. She has earned recognition for her work through awards including the Best Program award in the TV Entertainment category at the 37th Baeksang Arts Awards, the Best Program award in the TV Entertainment category at the Korean Broadcasting Producers Awards, the Best Program award in the Entertainment TV category at the Korean Broadcasting Awards, and an honor from the Prime Minister at the Korea Content Awards, thereby proving her credibility within the industry.

SM C&C expressed confidence that President Choi will leverage her extensive experience in content production to establish a clear identity for SM C&C’s digital studios and strengthen the company’s competitiveness by developing distinctive original content and intellectual property. President Choi plans to oversee SM C&C’s entertainment business division, focusing on branding and further development of its digital studio operations.
