The group ILLIT (Yuna, Minju, Wonhee, Iroha) held a media showcase to promote their fifth mini-album, “BREAK EVEN,” at 6 p.m. on the 26th at the UliWON Banking Hall in Bluesquare, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
During the event, ILLIT performed their title track “I’m Gonna Arrest You” and revealed four additional songs from the album, including “Super in Love,” “More,” and “Pop.”
“BREAK EVEN” focuses on the break-even point in a relationship where there is neither loss nor gain, depicting the process of ending one-sided love and moving forward with new emotions.
All tracks were produced by HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk. Minju stated, “Although I didn’t get to meet Director Bang Si-hyuk personally while preparing the album, I heard that this recording session turned out exceptionally well.”
This is the first album released under a four-member lineup, as Moka was unable to participate in the activities. Iroha said, “It’s very disappointing for both Moka-nee and us that we’re making our comeback as just four members for the first time. She watched all of our content and encouraged us, saying the songs on this album are really good.”
At the showcase, actor Song Kang made a surprise appearance in the music video for “I’m Gonna Arrest You,” drawing attention. Yuna mentioned, “I met Senior Song Kang directly at the music video shooting site. He told us he was watching our activities closely and gave us his support. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to him.”
“The title track ‘I’m Gonna Arrest You’ is an electro-pop song with a highly addictive melody led by whistle sounds,” explained Yuna. “It maximizes the addictive quality that is a strength of ILLIT’s music, so people will naturally start humming it.”
This album marks their first release since the previous one, “It’s Me.” Minju said, “‘It’s Me’ received such overwhelming support that we felt pressure to perform even better, but that pressure became a positive motivator for us.”
The title track was previewed during the encore concert held at the Incheon Inspire Arena on the 17th and 18th. At that time, the members wore outfits resembling police uniforms, which sparked controversy over sexual objectification. Yuna responded, “I’m grateful for any attention we receive. Since transforming into ‘Black Agents’ was part of our concept, we plan to showcase many more such outfits in future activities.”
