Hong Seongmin Takes Office as 2nd President of Korean Music Media Association

The Korean Music Media Association announced on the 26th that Hong Seongmin has officially assumed the role of its 2nd president. Key figures from the music industry, including the president of the Korean Music Copyright Association, vice presidents of the association, and assembly members, attended the inauguration ceremony held in Seoul on the 24th to mark the new president’s start.

In his inaugural speech, President Hong Seongmin clarified the current state of the industry by stating that “computer music is no longer a future concept but a core competitive advantage of K-pop today.” He went on to outline specific goals, saying the association will take the lead in strengthening MIDI education and protecting the rights of computer music professionals. He also emphasized that the association will serve as a solid support system for computer music creators to further elevate K-pop’s global status.

Under President Hong’s leadership, the association has decided to focus on three key initiatives. The first is protecting the rights of computer music professionals, the second is implementing structured MIDI education programs, and the third is contributing to the sustainable development of South Korea’s music industry. These objectives align with the direction outlined by the new president in his inaugural speech.

In today’s domestic music creation landscape, computer-based music production methods have already become completely standard. Most of the top songs on major music charts are created using MIDI technology. This indicates that K-pop’s global success is built on the contributions of computer music producers.

The Korean Music Media Association is a nonprofit organization established with the goal of protecting the rights and improving the professionalism of music creators who work with MIDI. Many of South Korea’s most successful composers are members of this association. As it continues to strengthen the creative infrastructure of the K-pop industry, the association plans to take decisive action under President Hong Seongmin’s leadership to protect musicians’ rights and boost the MIDI industry.
