EXO’s Kai Returns as a Solo Artist After Military Service... Releases New Song “Adult Swim” and Begins Tour

EXO’s Kai has started full-scale solo activities following his discharge from military service. On April 3, he released the music video for his new song “Adult Swim,” which marks his first musical release since completing his military duty. “Adult Swim” is a pop track produced by MAX, featuring lyrics that compare two people sinking together into deep, romantic emotions to swimming. The music video shows Kai, now with blond hair, relaxing in a public swimming pool before performing his signature sharp, fluid, and powerful dance moves. This comeback is approximately two years after the release of his third mini-album “Rover” in March 2023. Kai’s real name, Kim Jong-in, debuted with EXO in 2012 and began his solo career in 2020 with a solo EP featuring “Mmmh” as the Title Track. His official comeback, the fourth mini-album “Wait On Me,” is set to release on April 21, and it is expected to maintain a mature vibe while highlighting his unique fresh charm. Earlier, on a YouTube channel where he appeared shortly after his discharge, Kai recalled his time serving as a social service officer and received praise for his diligence. He shared his experience working at a dementia center, explaining that he would “go to work at 9 o’clock on schedule, wake up at 8 o’clock, use public transportation, and leave exactly at the designated time,” adding that he “cared for the elderly and assisted the staff.” Colleagues who worked there left comments such as “always a model social service officer,” “a responsible and sensible person,” “always kind and proactive toward the seniors,” and “truly a good person.” Kai is currently on his “KAION” solo concert tour, with a performance in Manila scheduled for July 27. He will also attend “SMTOWN Live” at London’s Wembley Stadium on June 28 to celebrate SM Entertainment’s 30th anniversary. This is set to be his first performance in the UK in five years.
