DAY6’s Dowoon Amidst Ongoing Romance Rumors with Yu JiYu and “Fan Betrayal” Controversy

DAY6 member Dowoon, 31, is facing criticism over claims of a romantic relationship with YouTuber Yu JiYu, 30, as well as suspicions that he invited her to a fan event, sparking accusations of “betraying fans.” Following rumors of an engagement last month, JYP Entertainment has maintained a silence, stating it has “no comment” on the ongoing allegations.

Yu JiYu is an influencer and the younger sister of YouTuber Yu Hyeju. Rumors of a relationship between her and Dowoon spread rapidly across online communities. These suspicions intensified due to claims that he met with a wedding planner for consultations, the discovery of a dog of the same breed as Yu JiYu’s in Dowoon’s vehicle, and multiple instances of what is known as “love Instagram” content, such as couple-themed items.

Dowoon released a statement expressing his feelings but remained silent regarding the engagement rumors. He said, “Our group will never disappear no matter what happens. I won’t go anywhere, and please stop reading negative posts. Ignore any articles about me for now. I’m sorry for causing you pain,” but he further confused fans by suddenly mentioning breakup rumors, showing little understanding of the situation.

The controversy over “betraying fans” originated from suspicions that Dowoon invited Yu JiYu to a DAY6 fan event. This was inferred from a vlog video posted by Yu JiYu on her YouTube channel on October 6 of last year, 8 months prior. The video showed the words “Day6” and the fandom name “My Day” in the frame. Although it was a restaurant accessible to the general public, it was mistakenly interpreted as being part of the fan event space.

Fans are outraged by Dowoon’s actions, with reactions including, “If they kept their relationship secret, no one would have a problem,” and “Why can’t he just be straightforward instead of causing such a fuss?” JYP Entertainment continues to refuse to respond to the romance rumors, insisting it has “no comment.”
