DAY6’s Doohyun Accused of Dating YouTube Creator Yu Ji-yoo; Rumors Spread to Marriage and Group Departure Claims

DAY6 member Doohyun found himself at the center of controversy over allegations that he is dating Yu Ji-yoo, the younger sister of YouTube creator Yu Hye-ju. The rumor, which spread rapidly through online communities, evolved to include claims backed by social media evidence and discussions about a potential marriage. The agency’s slow response only intensified fan backlash.

The rumors originated from suspicions raised in online forums. It was claimed that the perfume and keychain Doohyun displayed in a recent YouTube video were identical products, leading to accusations that the two were in a relationship. Additionally, claims emerged that a dog photo posted on a friend’s social media account actually belonged to Yu Ji-yoo, further bolstering the credibility of the rumors. Internet users interpreted these items as “couple items” and used them to track the couple’s relationship.

The rumors soon expanded to include marriage speculation. Online, claims circulated that Doohyun and Yu Ji-yoo had consulted with wedding planners. The narrative that they were discussing marriage plans beyond a simple relationship caused the controversy to grow rapidly. Moreover, suspicions arose that Doohyun might leave the group, prompting some fans to organize truck protests demanding his departure.

JYP Entertainment’s response failed to calm the situation. On the 26th, the company merely stated it had “no comment,” an indifferent attitude that gave fans the impression the agency was failing to manage the situation properly. After that, the rumors continued to spread out of control.

Doohyun personally addressed the issue through his Instagram Story on May 28th. He clearly stated, “Our group will never disappear, no matter what happens. I am not leaving anywhere.” He also asked fans to “avoid reading negative posts,” “ignore posts related to me for now,” and “apologize for causing them pain while asking them to wait a little longer.” However, even this announcement did not fully ease fans’ concerns or stop their backlash.

Doohyun debuted in 2015 as the drummer for DAY6. DAY6 is a band beloved by music fans for songs such as “Pretty,” “To Become One Page,” and “Welcome to the Show.” This controversy is also affecting the group’s reputation.
