TOP to Release Solo Song in April After 13 Years, Expressing Support for G-Dragon

TOP, formerly of BIGBANG, will release his first full-length album, “ANOTHER DIMENSION,” on April 3, according to a announcement made by his agency, Topspot Pictures, on the 20th.

This marks his first solo song in 13 years since his 2013 single “DOOM DADA,” and he was directly involved in every aspect of the album’s production. The teaser videos released, titled “완전미쳤어! (Studio54)” and “DESPERADO,” hinted at TOP’s musical transformation through cinematic direction and unique typography.

TOP debuted as a member of BIGBANG in 2006 and released solo works in 2010 and 2013, but he halted his activities in 2016 after being given a suspended sentence for marijuana possession. After participating in BIGBANG’s digital single “봄 여름 가을 겨울” in 2022, he left the group in 2023.

Having returned as an actor with Netflix’s “Squid Game” Season 2 in 2024, TOP is now resuming his activities as a singer with this album. In interviews, he stated that he feels “great guilt” toward the members of BIGBANG and said he “has no face to show up.” When asked about a possible reunion, he clarified, “A long time has passed since I made up my mind, and my feelings have not changed at all since then.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon, another member of BIGBANG, expressed his support by liking posts related to TOP’s comeback. This year marks BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary, and G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung are scheduled to perform at next month’s “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival” in California, USA.
