G-Dragon to Release His First Solo Single in 13 Years, “ANOTHER DIMENSION,” in April

G-Dragon, formerly of BIGBANG, will release his first full-length album, “ANOTHER DIMENSION,” on April 3. His agency, Top Spot Pictures, announced this news on the 20th.

This album marks G-Dragon’s first solo release since his single “DOOM DADA” in 2013. He was directly involved in all aspects of its production and has already signaled a musical transformation by releasing stylish Teaser videos for tracks like “Studio54” and “DESPERADO.” Both videos draw attention through bold typography and cinematic visuals.

G-Dragon debuted as a member of BIGBANG in 2006 and gained massive popularity both domestically and internationally. He also pursued a solo career, releasing solo albums such as “Turn It Up” in 2010 and “DOOM DADA” in 2013. However, he faced controversy in 2016 when he was prosecuted for marijuana use during his military service and sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspension. He completed his remaining military duty as a social service worker after his status as a reserve police officer was revoked.

Following a heated argument with netizens, G-Dragon declared his retirement from the entertainment industry, stating, “I will never return.” He officially left BIGBANG in 2023 and removed all references to his BIGBANG-related career from his profile. Yet, he made a comeback as an actor by appearing in Season 2 of Netflix’s original series “Squid Game” in 2024, and now he is resuming his singing activities as well.

In a previous interview, G-Dragon expressed deep guilt toward his BIGBANG teammates, emphasizing, “I feel tremendous remorse. It would be shameful for me to go back. I made up my mind a long time ago, and that decision has never changed.”

Public reactions remain divided. While some criticize him, saying things like, “Weren’t you retired?” and “Do it as BIGBANG?”, G-Dragon’s former colleague, Liz, indirectly showed support by liking articles about his comeback.
