G-Dragon Criticized for Inappropriate Shirt at K-Spark Performance; Agency Issues Apology

G-Dragon faced criticism from international fans after the shirt he wore during his performance at K-Spark in Macau contained racist imagery. His agency, Galaxy Corporation, released an official apology statement on May 3.

G-Dragon donned a shirt with a racist Dutch phrase on it while on stage. Even though he was wearing a jacket over it, the wording on the shirt was clearly visible every time he turned around.

Once videos of the incident were posted on social media, strong criticism poured in from fans. Related posts accumulated over 1 million views, sparking widespread reaction across the global fanbase.

In its statement, Galaxy Corporation said, “We sincerely apologize for the inappropriateness of the wording within its social and cultural context.” The company admitted it lacked the cultural awareness expected of a global artist.

The company added, “This incident serves as another reminder of the importance of cultural sensitivity and thorough review processes.” It announced plans to completely overhaul its procedures for reviewing and approving stage outfits in the future. The goal is to strengthen cultural oversight standards in managing global artists and prevent similar issues from occurring again.
