G-Dragon Files Mass Lawsuits Against Over 100 Authors of Malicious Comments to Strengthen Rights Protection

On the 24th, Galaxy Corporation, G-Dragon’s management agency, filed large-scale lawsuits against over 100 individuals who posted malicious content regarding him under charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation). This is a strong legal response to various forms of malicious posts, including defamation, spread of false information, malicious slander, and infringement of personal rights. Galaxy Corporation took this action based on evidence gathered through fan reports and its own monitoring efforts.

In an official statement, Galaxy Corporation stated, “We are continuing to take firm legal actions in collaboration with law firm Yulchon against malicious posts such as defamation, spread of false information, malicious slander, and infringement of personal rights directed at our artist G-Dragon.” Reports received from fans and data monitored directly by the agency served as the main basis for the lawsuits. This reflects systematic and ongoing efforts to protect artists from online malicious content.

Investigation authorities conducted searches at major online communities and social media platforms such as Natepan, Naver, Dicision, TheQoo, and X (formerly Twitter). Through these searches, multiple suspects responsible for posting malicious content were identified. Such extensive investigations demonstrate a determination to actively uncover those who engage in malicious behavior behind online anonymity.

So far, some suspects have admitted to the charges, and their investigations have been completed with cases submitted to the prosecutor’s office. Galaxy Corporation said it is “waiting for the outcome of the prosecutor’s decision.” Active investigations are also ongoing at the police level against suspects who deny the charges. This reflects the agency’s firm stance of holding everyone accountable regardless of whether they admit guilt.

Galaxy Corporation stated, “We are continuously collecting evidence of malicious posts posted on various social media platforms and online sites.” It also emphasized, “We plan to gradually expand civil and criminal measures to further protect the rights of our artists in the future.” The agency added, “We will maintain constant monitoring of malicious expressions directed at our artists, both domestically and internationally, to create a healthy environment for their activities.” This shows a commitment to sustained and systematic monitoring as well as legal action, rather than a one-time response.

Meanwhile, G-Dragon recently successfully concluded his first solo fan meeting. Held in three Asian cities—Seoul, Japan, and Thailand—the event served as a direct platform for communication between G-Dragon and his fans. In April, he will appear on the main stage of the world’s largest music festival, the “Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival,” in Indio, California. This appearance is part of his grand return to celebrate the 20th anniversary of BIGBANG’s debut.
