aespa Releases New Collaboration Track “WDA” with G-Dragon

aespa will unveil the preview track “WDA” from their second full album at 6 p.m. on June 11. G-Dragon, a member of BIGBANG, appears as a featured artist and contributed his own rap verses, resulting in a significant collaboration between second-generation and current-generation K-POP artists.

“WDA (Whole Different Animal)” is a hip-hop-based dance track characterized by grand synth beats and powerful hooks. Through this song, aespa reflects on the group’s growth and hints at a new chapter in their established universe. All songs from their second full album, “LEMONADE,” are set to be released at 1 p.m. on June 29.

The music video mirrors the current era in which the lines between reality and digital space have blurred. Entities that resemble aespa but are actually different beings appear, creating chaos, while the group visually depicts their process of reaffirming their existence amid these conflicts. The video poses a philosophical question about what is real in an environment where the boundaries between the original and its copy, as well as reality and virtuality, have become unclear.

Since their Debut in 2020, aespa has centered their universe around the virtual avatar “ae-aespa,” exploring the coexistence of real and digital selves. They are recognized for successfully integrating this virtual concept into mainstream music through consecutive hits such as “Next Level” and “Supernova.”

This second full album marks their first release in about two years since “Armageddon” in 2024. Back then, the group held the top position on Melon for the longest duration and achieved an All-Kill on the music chart. They also won grand prizes at major domestic and international award shows.

Starting at 5 p.m. on June 11, aespa will hold a “WDA Countdown Live” on their YouTube and TikTok channels to discuss the new track.
