BIGBANG Unveils Spectacular “20th Anniversary Festival” Performance at Coachella

BIGBANG, composed of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, made a grand return at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Performing twice on April 12 and 19 at the Outdoor Theater stage, the group delivered a powerful show lasting approximately 67 minutes, featuring 15 of their most iconic hits including “Bang Bang Bang,” “Fantastic Baby,” and “Lie.”

The setlist began with the opening of “Bang Bang Bang,” and the audience immediately erupted in cheers at the first notes. Songs that encapsulated 20 years of their musical journey such as “Loser,” “No Time to Cry,” “Day by Day,” “Lie,” and “Bbae Bbae” were performed energetically, with fans singing along from start to finish, showing an enthusiastic response that made the passage of 20 years seem insignificant.

Solo performances by each member also drew attention. Taeyang showcased a stunning routine with “RINGA LINGA,” while G-Dragon displayed his unmatched hip appeal through “PO₩ER” and the subgroup song “GOOD BOY.” Daesung surprised the international audience by performing Korean trot songs like “Hando Chogo” and “Nal Bwa, Gwisun” on a global stage. When overseas fans sang along to the Korean lyrics, he responded with genuine enthusiasm, creating a special moment.

International music media offered varied reviews. The outlet described BIGBANG as the “emperor of K-pop,” stating that they “laid the foundation for the global K-pop industry and had a profound influence on the musical style, fashion, and ambitions of almost all groups that emerged afterward.” Billboard praised them by saying, “BIGBANG’s popularity and influence in the K-pop world remain strong,” adding that they “perfectly brought fans back to the golden age of K-pop.”

The Coachella performance was merely the beginning of the official 20th anniversary celebration. During the show on April 19, G-Dragon declared, “BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary has just started. We will be back with a big event soon, so please wait,” while Daesung emphasized that this was not just a comeback but a “restart.” G-Dragon then officially announced that BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary world tour would begin in August 2026, greatly increasing expectations among global fans.

This tour holds special significance as it is the first concert under the BIGBANG name in 9 years since “LAST DANCE” in 2017. It is also the first time they have performed in the United States in 11 years since the “MADE World Tour” in 2015. YG Entertainment, their agency, stated that “all staff will do their utmost to create a perfect performance.”

BIGBANG also strengthened its connection with fans. On April 21, at 8:19 p.m., the time symbolizing their debut date (August 19), they simultaneously launched an official community and social media channels on the global fan platform VStage. Additionally, Taeyang is set to release his fourth studio album “QUINTESSENCE” on May 18, marking the first studio album in about 9 years since “WHITE NIGHT” released in August 2017.
