Yeosu Hosts Comprehensive Hallyu Festival Combining K-Pop and Traditional Culture from June 13-15

The city of Yeosu in South Jeolla Province will host “2025 MyK FESTA in Yeosu” over a three-day period from June 13 to 15, using the entire city as its stage. Organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea International Cultural Exchange Promotion Agency with Yeosu City serving as co-organizer, this event is a large-scale Hallyu festival themed “To Yeosu! To the World! To the Future!” It features a blend of Yeosu’s history and tourism resources alongside global K-content. The festival includes a variety of programs such as traditional content that highlights Yeosu’s historical identity, large-scale concerts by K-pop stars, and drone shows. The “Jeolla Jwasuyong Dukje and Naval Deployment Ceremony” themed around Jeolla Jwasuyong will take place at Isunsin Square, while Korean traditional music performances will be held at Jinnamgwan. Additionally, the “Isunsin Storytelling Naldalsan Walk Tour” will offer a unique experience by connecting Yeosu’s history through storytelling and tourism content. K-pop concerts will be held twice—on the 13th and 15th—at a special stage located behind the Sky Tower at the Yeosu World Expo Complex. Popular domestic K-pop artists such as STAYC, ON&OFF, xikers, LIGHTSUM, Ailee, Jung Seung-won, and Paul Kim will all perform. As a pre-event activity, performances by overseas K-pop cover dance teams from countries like Turkey and the Philippines will also be staged to appeal to global fans. The concert finale will feature a drone light show involving 1,000 drones that will illuminate Yeosu’s night sky. Besides this, various other events such as the K-pop competition “Digilog Concert,” “Romantic Busking·Youth Busking,” “Candle Light Outdoor Performance,” and “Night Walk at Yeosu Marine Meteorological Science Museum and Aquarium” will turn different parts of Yeosu’s city center into stages. During the festival, Yeosu City will operate free shuttle buses to connect the event venues and run special tourist trains in collaboration with Korail to facilitate visitors’ travel. Participants who prove they attended the events will receive discounts on entry fees to major tourist attractions. The city also plans to strengthen strategies for attracting foreign tourists by inviting international students from universities in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region and foreign workers, as well as developing tour packages that incorporate local landmarks using global travel platforms. A Yeosu City official stated, “Through this festival that combines K-content, traditional culture, and Yeosu’s charm, we aim to elevate Yeosu into a world-class tourist city. We will prepare thoroughly to ensure that both citizens and tourists can participate safely and enjoyably.”
