Witnesses Spotted Hyein of NewJeans at Australian Open, Saying She Seemed in Good Health

Hyein, a member of NewJeans, drew attention after being spotted by fans at the Australian Open tennis tournament. On the 27th, a post appeared on X (formerly Twitter) along with a video showing Hyein’s signature on a tennis cap, along with the caption stating, “I happened to meet Hyein at the Australian Open tennis tournament and got her autograph.” This post was actually a screenshot and share of content originally posted on a Chinese social media platform.

A witness who met Hyein in person said she appeared to be in very good health, though they added that it might still take some time before she returns to activities. As this sighting went viral, fans left supportive messages such as “Wish you stay healthy” and “Can’t wait to see you again soon.” Meanwhile, some people raised concerns that since Hyein is in Australia, NewJeans’ specific Comeback schedule might not yet be finalized.

There have been prior reports of Hyein’s overseas activities as well. Last November, a fan claimed to have met her in Ushuaia, Argentina, stating that they received an autograph from her and that she looked happy with her brown-dyed hair.

The current status of NewJeans’ lineup is complex. In December last year, it was confirmed that Hyein, Haerin, and SuA would return to ADOR, but Minzy is still under negotiation with ADOR, while Danielle’s exclusive contract has been terminated. ADOR filed a lawsuit seeking 43.1 billion won in damages against Danielle for violating the terms of their exclusive contract.

After winning a court case last October to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract, ADOR stated, “We have completed preparations for activities such as releasing a regular album and are waiting.” They also added, “We will make every effort to return to our fans through discussions with the artists.” While Hyein’s sighting in Australia confirms that the members are in good health, a more specific schedule still needs to be finalized before they can resume official activities.
