Tuide Makes Debut with “Tune & Play”

HYBE’s new girl group Tuide made its debut on August 24 (Monday) with its first EP, “Tune & Play.”

Tuide is the first girl group to emerge from ABD, a newly established label operated by HYBE. It follows Katseye, the first group to debut under HYBE in the past two years and a group based in the United States. The group consists of seven members: Seohee, Yoon Seoyeon, Lena, Jia, Sakie, Sea, and Hani. Yoon Seoyeon is the younger sister of Jihyo, a member of the top-tier girl group TWICE.

The group name “Tuide” comes from the phrase “Tune the tide.” Seohee, the group’s Leader, explained that this name reflects the group’s desire to “harmonize various currents to create its own joyful rhythm.”

Debut Music Style Yoon Seoyeon described the group’s unique music style as “Soultronic,” which refers to a combination of soul music with emotional depth and sophisticated, refined electronic music. She said, “This music makes people want to keep listening and naturally moves their bodies to the rhythm.”

Music Content “The EP” contains five tracks: “ABD,” “Sun Kiss,” “Echo,” “Flip-flop Girl,” and “Grls.” Jia explained that the lead single “Sun Kiss” best represents the group’s distinct identity. She said, “This song captures the free and cheerful energy felt under bright sunlight through music.”

“Sun Kiss” focuses on the theme of trusting and expressing one’s own voice and emotions without being constrained by others’ standards.

Member Backgrounds The members were born between 2006 and 2011 and come from diverse cultural backgrounds, including South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.

Musical Characteristics Jia said, “Although each track has a different genre, they all share a bright, energetic atmosphere along with a relaxed vibe.” She added, “The coexistence of vitality and relaxation defines Tuide’s Soultronic style.”

Debut Performance Tuide performed “Sun Kiss” at a media showcase held in Seoul.
