Seventeen’s The8 and Vernon Debut as V8 Unit, Collaborating with Global Producers

Seventeen’s The8 and Vernon are making their debut as a new sub-unit named V8. Their first mini-album, titled “V8,” set to release on June 29, features a global sound that experimentally blends European electronic music with K-pop.

The mini-album contains a total of 8 tracks, with The8 and Vernon personally contributing to the composition and lyrics of 6 of them. Each member also has a solo track included. The lead single, “Singasong,” was created in collaboration with Mechatok, a German DJ and prominent producer in the European house music scene. This track is a dance/electronic piece based on hyperpop, characterized by its catchy beat.

Among the B-sides, “Girlsnboys” features Pharrell Williams, who has won 14 Grammy Awards, handling the full composition, lyrics, and production for this track. BUMZU, a long-time collaborator of Seventeen, is also credited on this song. The8 collaborated with Alice Longyu Gao, DPR Cream, and DPR Artic on his solo track “8DM,” while Vernon teamed up with Kirara and Korean indie musician Han Jung In for “Mia,” delivering an honest reflection on youth.

The tracks listed are “Singasong,” “Friend,” “Beat,” “Mia,” “Coloring,” “Girlsnboys,” “8DM,” and the digital-only track “Rat Race.” V8 uses music to portray the journey from youthful confusion and struggle toward resilience and growth.

The mini-album “V8” will be officially released on June 29 through HYBE.
