Park Jin-young and Kim Min-ju’s JTBC Drama Hits 0%+ Rating Ratings…Unreleased Still Images from Episodes 5 and 6 Released

JTBC’s drama “Shining” (written by Lee Suk-yeon, directed by Kim Yoon-jin) has recorded ratings in the 0% range. This is the first time in four years that a JTBC Friday drama has achieved such low viewership. Starring Park Jin-young of GOT7 and Kim Min-ju, the series depicts an adult romance between two men and women who reunite after 20 years apart. Unreleased still images from Episodes 5 and 6 were made public on the 24th.

Yeon Tae-seo (Park Jin-young) and Mo Eun-ah (Kim Min-ju) parted ways at the age of 20 and have lived separate lives since then. After coincidentally running into each other in Seoul, the two initially meet under the pretense of being former classmates. Over time, they realize that their feelings did not disappear over the past decade but instead accumulated deep within them, leading to a renewed closeness. Having taken jobs as subway drivers and stay managers respectively and leading busy daily lives, they now experience a resurgence of interest in one another.

The unreleased still images showcase mature adult love through scenes such as Mo Eun-ah finding Yeon Tae-seo asleep while fetching her belongings and hugging him, the two sleeping wrapped around each other, moments where they look at each other while eating grapes, an intimate embrace inside a taxi, and a kissing scene during a date at home. These still images reflect the evolving emotions of the main characters and enhance the drama’s lingering impact.

JTBC’s Friday dramas have been facing persistent low ratings. “Only One Person” (starring Ahn Eun-jin and Kim Kyung-nam), which concluded in February 2022, remained in the 0% range starting from Episode 4 out of a total of 16 episodes. Previous Friday dramas also struggled. “Good Man” recorded its lowest rating at 1.7%, “My Youth” starring Song Joong-ki dropped to 1.5%, and “Love Me” starring Seo Hyun-jin fell to 1.1%.

“Shining” will air two consecutive episodes at 8:50 p.m. on the 27th.
