NewJeans Releases 4th Anniversary Video with Four Members…Specific Activity Plans Expected Soon

ADOR, the agency representing NewJeans, released a video featuring the group’s four members on July 21. Hyein, Haerin, Hanni, and Minji appeared in this video dedicated to the group’s 4th anniversary since their 2022 debut. Danielle, one of the five original members, left ADOR at the end of last year, and through this video, the group officially confirmed its reorganization into a four-member lineup.

ADOR described these videos as “commemorative content” and stated that they would announce NewJeans’ specific activity plans and methods once all discussions were fully concluded. NewJeans has had little news since announcing an official hiatus in 2025. The release of this 4th anniversary video marked the first official update in approximately six months.

NewJeans debuted in 2022 as a five-member group consisting of Hyein, Haerin, Minji, Hanni, and Danielle. The group was launched under the guidance of music producer Min-Hyjin. Before becoming CEO of ADOR in 2021, Min-Hyjin served as Creative Director at SM Entertainment, where he contributed to the development of groups such as Girls Generation, Exo, and Red Velvet.

NewJeans’ first three songs achieved immediate success. “Attention,” “Hype Boy,” and “Cookie” all gained popularity, with “Hype Boy” setting a record for the longest stay on the Billboard Global 200 chart by any K-pop girl group. These tracks were included in their self-titled debut EP, released in August 2022.

In 2023, NewJeans expanded into international markets. The “Get Up” EP, featuring main tracks like “Super Shy” and “ETA,” reached number one on the Billboard 200. That same year, the group became the first K-pop girl group to perform at Lollapalooza, marking their live debut in the United States. They also set a record as the fastest K-pop girl group to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify.

A dispute arose in 2024. HYBE initiated an audit of Min-Hyjin, accusing him of attempting to make ADOR independent. Min-Hyjin responded by publicly criticizing HYBE for copying NewJeans’ style and choreography to launch other groups. As a result, Min-Hyjin stepped down from his role as CEO of ADOR.

NewJeans members expressed their dissatisfaction with HYBE’s management through YouTube live streams. They mentioned allegations of workplace harassment and the company’s mishandling of personal information. The members demanded that HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk reinstate Min-Hyjin by September 25, 2024. However, this request was not accepted, and the group entered a hiatus.

Fans are now awaiting an official announcement from ADOR. The agency has not specified a timeline for such a release, leaving the date of NewJeans’ return as a four-member group undetermined.
