'KPop Demon Hunters' Returns to Theaters for 1st Anniversary

Netflix’s animated series 'KPop Demon Hunters' is being shown again in domestic theaters to mark one year since its release. CGV announced on the 9th that it will hold a three-day exclusive theater screening from the 12th to the 14th at 30 locations across the country. Both dubbed and subtitled versions are available, along with sing-along screenings that allow audiences to sing along to the songs.

'KPop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy animation featuring K-POP superstars Rumi, Mira, and Joy as hidden heroes who protect the world behind the dazzling stages. It is known for its visually stunning world built around K-POP and Korean cultural elements, its uniquely distinctive characters, and its highly addictive music—factors that have earned it massive popularity among global fans.

Special screenings held at over 100 CGV theaters nationwide last year (2025) attracted tremendous interest from audiences, with some shows selling out completely. This current re-release is planned to celebrate the first anniversary of the series and in response to ongoing support from its fanbase.

The sing-along screenings will take place at major CGV locations such as Yongsan I-Park Mall, Wangsimni, Yeongdeungpo Times Square, Dongtan, Cheonan Pentaport, and Asiad. Through these events, fans can experience singing the series’ theme songs and OSTs alongside the characters on screen.

Since its release in June of last year, the series has accumulated 300 million global views. This achievement has solidified its status as Netflix’s most successful content to date, surpassing the previous record holder, the 'Squid Game' series. It has also received international recognition by winning awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, as well as Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the Golden Globe Awards.
