Kang Dong-won Transforms into a 90s Idol... Film “Wild Thing” to Debut in June

Actor Kang Dong-won makes a bold transformation in the film “Wild Thing,” playing the leader of a 90s mixed-gender dance group. The comedy depicts how the group “Triangle,” which once dominated the music industry but was disbanded due to an unexpected incident, gets a chance to return to the stage after over 20 years.

Kang Dong-won takes on the role of “Hyunwoo,” the group’s leader and a dancing machine. He is a former member of a once-popular three-member mixed-gender dance group who now survives as a low-budget entertainer, wandering around broadcasting stations. Uhm Tae-gu plays “Sang-gu,” a person with mediocre rap skills but extraordinary passion, while Park Ji-hyun portrays “Domi,” the member known for her heavenly vocals and role as Center.

Domi, played by Park Ji-hyun, hides her identity after retiring but struggles to control her natural girly strength. Oh Jung-se plays “Seong-gon,” a tragic singer who was always ranked second behind Triangle in the past.

The film is a collaboration between About Film, the production company behind the comedy “Extreme Job” which attracted 16.26 million viewers, and director Son Jae-gon, who directed “Sweet, Savage Lovers” and “Hachijiana.” Triangle’s special single “Love is” is set to be released at noon on April 21, with the film “Wild Thing” debuting on June 3.
