K-POP Producer EJAE Reaches Solo Stardom Thanks to Success of “KPop Demon Hunters”

Producer EJAE, who has written songs for major K-POP groups such as Red Velvet, aespa, and Twice, is now achieving solo stardom amid the success of the film “KPop Demon Hunters.” Born in Seoul, EJAE (real name: Kim Eun-jae, born December 6, 1991, 33 years old) has been active as a singer-songwriter and record producer. The animated film “KPop Demon Hunters,” released on Netflix on June 20, tells the story of the female K-POP group “Huntr/x,” composed of three members who hunt demons, with EJAE handling the songs for the protagonist Rumi. Since its release, “KPop Demon Hunters” has gained explosive popularity, becoming one of the most popular original titles in Netflix history. After its Netflix debut in June, the film was released in theaters in August along with a singalong version, and it has now accumulated 325 million views. During the 2025 Halloween season, Rumi’s signature “dragon braids” and purple hair were searched as the most popular Halloween costumes, and related tutorials went viral on TikTok. EJAE co-wrote several tracks for the film’s soundtrack, including “Golden,” “How It's Done,” and “Your Idol.” Currently, the film’s soundtrack album ranks second only to Taylor Swift on the Billboard chart. EJAE’s career as a producer is impressive, having composed songs like Red Velvet’s “Psycho,” aespa’s “Drama,” “Armageddon,” and “O.O,” as well as numerous other K-POP hits such as LE SSERAFIM’s “So Cynical” and TWICE’s “Last Waltz.” Following the film’s success, EJAE released his solo debut song “In Another World” on October 24. In an interview with music magazine Wired, he shared his creative philosophy by stating that he must constantly keep audiences excited. Industry insiders predict that EJAE’s solo activities will gain further momentum since a sequel to “KPop Demon Hunters” is scheduled for release in 2029.
