JYP’s New Group NEXZ Unveils Title Track “Eumtsek,” With Members Directly Contributing to Lyrics

Group NEXZ held a showcase to commemorate the release of their second single “Eumtsek” at Bluesquare U리WON뱅킹홀 in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the 27th. During the showcase, which started at 2 p.m. that day, NEXZ performed their title track “Eumtsek” for the first time.

The newly released album consists of three tracks in total. For the title track “Eumtsek,” Yuki, Hui, and Tomoya participated in writing the lyrics, while “HYPEMAN” is solely written by Yuki and Tomoya. The album also includes an English version of “Eumtsek” tailored for global fans. The members’ involvement in music creation demonstrates the group’s musical maturity.

The album title “Eumtsek” originates from onomatopoeia representing a cough sound. It conveys the intention to assert presence in a way that breaks away from conventional norms and establishes their own unique identity. The title track features lyrics such as “No frames are needed; I’ll brand myself,” reflecting NEXZ’s free-spirited and confident energy.

Musically, it is a dance track based on bass house. With its upbeat rap and catchy beat, it captures the listeners’ attention while expressing NEXZ’s sense of freedom. On stage, the members delivered impressive breakdancing-style steps and complex choreography continuously, emitting strong energy. Although each member had a distinct dancing style, when combined, they created a unique synergy characteristic of NEXZ.

Tomoya explained, “Every time we shout ‘Eumtsek,’ it means we want people to see our overflowing charm and energy.” Hui described the key choreography in the title track as movements designed to show their presence and attract attention from others. Tomoya added, “It represents our ‘NEXZ Way’—to express ourselves through our own standards and methods rather than following set rules.”

This is NEXZ’s first showcase since their global debut on May 20, 2024. The 27th also marked the second anniversary of their debut. Yuu said, “I still can’t believe it, and the memories from our debut are very fresh. We’ve gone through many experiences and worked hard, and starting with this ‘Eumtsek’ comeback, we want to introduce ourselves to more people.” He also mentioned that since it was his birthday as well, he spent a meaningful day with fans, and his family attended the showcase.

Yuki revealed that they filmed a challenge video alongside I.N from Stray Kids. This shows NEXZ’s position as a successor group within JYP Entertainment’s performance idol line, following 2PM, Stray Kids, and others.
