Jimin of BTS Named “2025’s Most Popular K-Pop Idol” for Third Consecutive Year…Setting Longest Hot 100 Run by a K-Pop Artist

Jimin of BTS was selected as 2025’s most popular K-Pop idol, claiming the top spot for the third year in a row. In the “Most Popular Kpop Idols 2025” category on the global fan voting site Shining Awards, he received 655,610 votes, accounting for 50.19% of the total and securing first place. By winning this title for the third consecutive year after 2023 and 2024, he demonstrated overwhelming support from fans worldwide. He also held the first place position for six years in a row starting from 2019 in King Choice’s “King Of Kpop 2023” award, and he claimed first place in Debeme’s “Kpop Idol of the Year 2023” as well. Jimin’s musical achievements are equally noteworthy. The Title Track “Who” from his second solo album “MUSE,” released in 2024, stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a total of 33 weeks, setting a record for the longest duration a K-Pop song has remained on the list. This means Jimin is the only K-Pop artist to hold the record for the longest Hot 100 run both for solo and group songs. He holds two top records: first place with BTS’s “Like Crazy” and a 33-week stay on the Hot 100 with his solo song “Who.” A major publication praised his musical influence by stating that “Jimin’s success on the Hot 100 is unparalleled.” His popularity continues in Japan as well. The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced that his solo song “Who” has surpassed 50 million streams in Japan, earning it a gold certification. During the same period, BLACKPINK’s Korean version of “AS IF IT’S YOUR LAST” reached 100 million streams, receiving a platinum certification, while OH MY GIRL’s “Dolphin” also earned a gold certification with 50 million streams. With military service currently underway, there is high anticipation for his future activities after he completes his duty. His unique solo career and global fan base are regarded as achieving results that are rare in K-Pop history.
