Daniel Dae Kim’s CNN Documentary ‘K-Everything’ on Hallyu’s Global Impact to Premiere in May

Korean American actor and producer Daniel Dae Kim is releasing a four-part travel documentary titled “K-Everything” on CNN International, which explores the global spread of Hallyu culture. The documentary is set to air on May 9, with Hyundai Motor serving as the exclusive sponsor.

Kim personally hosted and produced the series, traveling to explore industries such as K-pop, dramas, beauty, and food. Notable guests include PSY, the star of “Gangnam Style,” Lee Byung-hun from “Squid Game,” Kang Min-goo from Seoul’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant Mingles, and the production team behind Netflix’s series “KPop Demon Hunters.”

At 57, Kim is a veteran of Hollywood with over 30 years of experience in films and television. He appeared in shows like “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-0,” and last year received a Tony Award nomination for David Henry Hwang’s play “Yellow Face.” He also runs production company 3AD, which created ABC’s drama “The Good Doctor” based on a Korean series in 2013.

Born in Busan, Kim moved to the United States at the age of one and grew up in New York and Pennsylvania. In recent years, he has rekindled his connections to Korea. In 2024, he filmed Prime Video’s spy thriller “Butterfly” in over 20 Korean cities and was awarded an honorary citizenship title by Seoul that same year. In an interview, Kim said, “Korea was never far from me. I thought of Korea every day through the food my mother cooked.”

“K-Everything” will air on CNN International on May 9.
