BTS to Host Massive Event in Goyang City in June After Completing Military Service

All seven members of BTS have finished their mandatory military service in South Korea. Last week, SUGA completed his service as a social service officer, marking the end of BTS’s military obligations. It is reported that SUGA chose to serve as a social service officer instead of in the military due to an injury to his shoulder. BTS debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) with RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. The group began in 2013 with the hip-hop focused single album “2 Cool 4 Skool” and started gaining real popularity in 2016 with the album “Wings.” In 2017, “DNA” reached the Billboard Hot 100, achieving the first milestone for a Korean boy band, and they subsequently expanded their international fanbase rapidly through performances at the American Music Awards. BTS has played a leading role in bringing K-pop to the global stage. The song “Dynamite,” released in 2020, became the first all-English single by a Korean music group to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and it received a 5x Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In addition, tracks such as “Mic Drop” (2018), “Map of the Soul: 7,” “Love Yourself: Answer,” “Idol” (2020), “Bird,” and “Butter” (2021) also earned Platinum certifications, proving their global impact. At the peak of their popularity, BTS became the largest boy band among all K-pop groups worldwide. BTS’s reunion is scheduled for this year after they complete their military service. In preparation for this, Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province will host a series of large-scale events throughout June. On June 13–14, “j-hope Tour Hope Stage Final,” which concludes j-hope’s solo world tour, will take place at the main stadium of Goyang Stadium. With the final stage of the tour, which has visited major cities in North America and Asia, being held in Goyang, the city’s status as a K-pop performance hub is expected to rise further. During the same period, the offline event “2025 BTS FESTA” to commemorate BTS’s debut day will be held at Hall 2 of Goyang KINTEX. This marks the first time the FESTA event has been held in person. Photo zones themed around FESTA will be set up at key locations such as Ilsan Lake Park, the Goyang Tourism Information Center, the parking tower of Ilsan Seo-gu Office, and the plaza near KINTEX, turning the entire city into a festival venue. On June 28–29, Jin’s first solo fan concert, “#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.2 Tour,” will start at the auxiliary stadium of Goyang Stadium. Subsequent tours in Asia and the Americas are planned, with Goyang attracting attention as the first city to open this global tour. Taking advantage of these events, Goyang Special City is implementing comprehensive city-wide measures including the establishment of traffic and safety plans, the operation of temporary shuttle bus routes for foreign visitors, and the deployment of on-site administrative support teams.
