On the 4th, group BTS announced that their fifth studio album, “ARIRANG,” had received platinum certification from the Italian Music Industry Association (FIMI) on the 2nd (local time), making them the first K-pop artist to achieve this status.
FIMI’s platinum certification is awarded to albums that have sold a cumulative total of 50,000 units or more, calculated by combining physical album sales, digital downloads, and streaming figures. “ARIRANG” earned this certification following its release in March.
Prior to this, BTS had previously received FIMI gold certifications for albums such as “LOVE YOURSELF 結 ‘Answer,’” “MAP OF THE SOUL : PERSONA,” “MAP OF THE SOUL : 7,” “BE,” and “Proof.”
BTS will embark on their “ARIRANG” world tour, starting this month in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and concluding in December with 15 performances across five Southeast Asian cities, including Bangkok, Malaysia, Singapore, and Jakarta.
According to the U.S. Billboard charts, “ARIRANG” reached position 57 on the main album chart, the Billboard 200, as of the issue dated November 7th. It has remained on the chart for 32 consecutive weeks since its release, having initially topped the chart shortly after its debut.
The title track, “SWIM,” ranked 13th on the “Global (Ex-U.S.)” chart, which tracks streaming and digital sales across more than 200 countries and regions worldwide, and 33rd on the Billboard Global 200 chart. It also re-entered the “Adult Contemporary” chart at position 29.
BTS recently concluded their South American tour with performances at the Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo, Brazil, where all 14 shows in five cities were sold out. The total audience count for these concerts reached 853,000 fans.
