BTS’s Netflix Documentary ‘THE RETURN’ to Debut on March 27

Netflix’s documentary “BTS: THE RETURN,” which captures the group’s reunion process, will be released on March 27. Directed by Bao Nguyen, this film documents how the seven members, who have completed their military service in Korea, create new music in Los Angeles.

The documentary includes footage from their world tour, their discharge ceremonies, and songwriting sessions in Los Angeles. It also shows the members enjoying ordinary days while seeking inspiration, illustrating how they, despite time gaps and personal changes, work together to create new music.

The use of the Korean traditional folk song “Arirang” as background music, along with narration such as “I think we’ve returned to where we naturally belong” and “Perhaps this is a scene only we can create,” enhances anticipation for BTS’s new chapter.

On March 21 at 7 a.m. Eastern Time, BTS will stream a live performance from Gwanghwamun on Netflix, coinciding with the release date of their new album “Arirang.” Through this broadcast, fans will be able to witness the full group performing for the first time since completing their military service.

Netflix described the documentary as “a reflection on how the seven members returned together to begin a reunion that will go down in pop culture history, as well as the journey that transformed seven Koreans into global icons.” It further explained that “the process of creating new music by reflecting their current selves amid moments of doubt, laughter, and rediscovery is a story about resilience, brotherhood, and reinvention.”
