BLACKPINK Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Full Group Appearance for Fans; Jisoo Expresses Regret Over Frustration

BLACKPINK held a fan event at the National Museum of Korea on August 8 to mark their 10th anniversary since debut. Debuting on August 8, 2016, with songs “Whistle” and “Boom Bay,” the group conducted a Meet&Greet at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on that day.

The event was limited to 40 members who held Weverse premium memberships. Initial announcements stated that only members available for the schedule could attend, which raised concerns among fans. However, the four members, now under different agencies, coordinated their schedules to fulfill their promise to appear as a full group.

Member Jisoo personally apologized through fan communities. She said, “Time has passed, and it’s already been 10 years since we debuted as BLACKPINK.” She added, “This anniversary feels like a day filled with deep regret.” She continued, “I always wanted to show only my best side and bring happiness during tough times over these 10 years, but I feel heavy-hearted knowing so many BLINKs are disappointed.” She also noted, “I never forget that it is the BLINKs who have made BLACKPINK shine this much.” She then expressed sincere apologies, saying, “I’m truly sorry for causing such great disappointment once again. I’m always grateful and love you all.”

The other members also shared their gratitude for the 10th anniversary. Jennie wrote on social media, “The more time passes, the deeper I realize how much strength it has been to have people who always wait for me, believe in me, and support me at the same place.” She added, “Thanks to you all, I’ve been able to achieve many dreams. Living as ‘Jennie’ alongside the BLINKs has helped me understand and love myself better.”

Rosé said, “Since I debuted at 19 and am now 29, you’ve watched our clumsy yet growing efforts with kindness and cheered for us, allowing me to realize countless dreams a singer can have.” She vowed, “Let’s continue to grow as BLINKs and BLACKPINK by supporting each other healthily and happily from now on.”

BLACKPINK has also set records in the international music scene. With their second studio album “BORN PINK” in 2022, they simultaneously topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 and the UK Official Album Chart Top 100. It was the first time since 2001, when Destiny’s Child did so, that a female group reached number one on both charts, and it also marked the first time an Asian female artist achieved this milestone.

To coincide with the 10th anniversary, the National Museum of Korea Cultural Properties Foundation will release 7 items in the “Heritage Collection,” created in collaboration with the museum’s cultural merchandise brand “Muse.”
