Anderson .Paak to Release K-Pops! OST in May...Featuring Numerous K-POP Idols

Anderson .Paak will release the original soundtrack album for the film “K-Pops!” on May 29. This album, which features collaborations with 13 groups and soloists representing South Korea including BTS, A.C.E, Joshua from Seventeen, Soyeon from (G)I-DLE, Hongjoong from ATEEZ, JO1, Jay Park, Chung Ha, Lush, Crush, Dean, and Kevin Woo, demonstrates the global influence of K-POP through its fusion with Black American music.

The artists participating in this collaboration are G-Dragon, A.C.E, NMIXX, Joshua from Seventeen, Soyeon from (G)I-DLE, Hongjoong from ATEEZ, JO1, Jay Park, Chung Ha, Lush, Crush, Dean, and Kevin Woo. A K-POP compilation of this scale has never been seen before. Producer Dem Jointz led this project based on his extensive experience collaborating with various K-POP artists.

The album is titled “K-Pops! (Music from and inspired by K-Pops! Motion Picture).” Paak’s vocals can be heard throughout the album, and the production maintains a retro-leaning sensibility. It represents Paak’s closest solo album since “Ventura” in 2019. Paak explained that he wanted to invite K-POP artists into his musical world to create new attempts that are uncommon within their own musical realms.

“The K-Pops!” film is a family comedy set against the backdrop of South Korea’s idol industry. After its theatrical release, it will be made available on Netflix on May 30.

Currently, Paak is on tour with Bruno Mars. He serves as the opening act under the name DJ Pee Wee while also performing on stage with Bruno Mars during the Silk Sonic segment. Their collaborative track “Aftertaste” is already available on music streaming services.

This project emphasizes that the roots of K-POP lie in Black American Music, particularly R&B and hip-hop. Paak highlighted the significance of such collaborations themselves, noting that it is rare for multiple K-POP groups to participate in the same album. The “K-Pops! (Music from and inspired by K-Pops! Motion Picture)” album will be released on May 29.
