aespa Releases Second Full-Length Album “Lemonade” – G-Dragon Feature Sparks Interest

aespa has unveiled its second full-length album, “Lemonade,” nearly two years after its previous release. Published on the 29th of last month, this album focuses on themes of self-confidence and self-esteem, and is regarded as a work that demonstrates the group’s musical evolution.

The album’s two title tracks have drawn significant attention. The titular track “Lemonade” is an electronic dance song based on synth beats, characterized by blending aespa’s signature “metallic” sound with a refreshing “sour” element. Karina explained, “We added a strong sour flavor to our signature ‘metallic’ sound in ‘Lemonade.’ Although the word suggests freshness, aespa’s ‘Lemonade’ carries a sharp and electric energy.”

The pre-release track “WDA (Whole Different Animal)” showcases a different dimension of appeal. Featuring G-Dragon from BIGBANG, this hip-hop-based track stands out for its grand synth sounds and powerful hooks. The announcement of G-Dragon’s participation sent shockwaves through the K-POP community, and his unique vocal tone adds a distinctive charm to the song.

Through this album, the members are revealing aespa’s expanded worldview and musical spectrum. Winter stated, “This album shows the expansion of aespa’s concept and musical range,” adding, “As it is a full-length album, each track captures a different aspect of aespa.” Giselle described the message of “Lemonade” as “transforming difficult situations into other forms of energy, just like the saying ‘if life gives you lemons, make lemonade.’” She also mentioned that when recording the lyrics “얽혀버린 문젤 다 Mixing / Like a hurricane / 휘저어 Pieces / All the lemons / 난 갈아 마셔 다 / I don't care if you say I'm freaky,” she aimed to express an unshakable and confident attitude. Ningning added, “‘Lemonade’ is a new type of beverage, but for aespa, even that sour taste becomes something fun.”

The album’s performance was immediate. Right after its release, it topped the iTunes “Top Albums” chart in 19 countries. It recorded high streaming numbers not only on global platforms such as QQ Music and Line Music but also on Spotify’s Global chart. It also claimed first place on the Hanteo Chart’s weekly World and Album charts, achieving the highest results of their career.

To bring this album to life on stage, aespa plans to launch the SYNK : COMPLæXITY tour. Starting with a headline performance at The O2 Arena in London on January 16, they will tour major cities around the world. The members promised that during this tour, they will show “how much they have grown as performers and as a group.”
