BLACKPINK to Hold Full-Group Fan Event on 10th Debut Anniversary

BLACKPINK will hold a fan event to commemorate its 10th debut anniversary on August 8. YG Entertainment announced on the 7th that all four members of BLACKPINK—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—will ultimately attend the debut 10th anniversary Meet & Greet.

BLACKPINK officially debuted on August 8, 2016, and this year marks its 10th anniversary. Initially, there were no announcements regarding special commemorative events, which disappointed fans. However, YG suddenly announced an offline event through the fan platform Weverse on the 6th, allowing fans to celebrate this significant milestone together.

This “Meet & Greet” event will invite 40 fans randomly selected from those who are members of Weverse. The event will take place on the afternoon of August 8 at an undisclosed location in Seoul. Eligibility for participation was limited to Weverse members as of the 31st of last month.

When the event was first announced, criticism arose due to a lack of specific details. Only “the afternoon of August 8” and “an undisclosed location in Seoul” were provided as information, with attendance restricted to 40 people. Initially, it was stated that “only some members who are available based on their schedules will attend,” which sparked strong backlash from fans. The fact that only fans with paid memberships could participate also became a point of controversy.

Online speculation about Rosé’s possible absence arose because she was abroad at the time. Her agency, Double Black Label, promptly issued a clarification, stating, “Recently, false information and unverified rumors have spread online regarding artist Rosé’s personal schedule and her participation in the debut anniversary event.”

Double Black Label explained, “The artist has prioritized this event for a long time to share a meaningful moment with fans, securing all her schedules in advance so she can spend time with them.” This meant Rosé had made sufficient arrangements to be with her fans. Lisa’s attendance was also confirmed.

As criticism grew, YG quickly confirmed that all members would attend. BLACKPINK has been on a full-group world tour since last year. In February of this year, the group released its third mini-album, “DEADLINE,” continuing its group activities. Through extensive solo activities and world tours, BLACKPINK has solidified its musical presence both individually and as a group, with plans to conclude this journey with a new full-group release and this fan event.

YG stated, “Most importantly, to share this meaningful 10th anniversary moment with BLACKPINK’s core fans in Korea, we coordinated the schedules of all members so they could attend the event together.” BLACKPINK plans to continue with various activities, including its world tour, starting with this fan event.
