BLACKPINK Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Full Group Meet & Greet for Fans

BLACKPINK marked its 10th anniversary on August 8. The group’s four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa—hosted a “Meet & Greet” event at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the occasion with 40 selected fans. That same afternoon, they also held a full-group live broadcast via the fan community platform Weverse.

The event generated disappointment among fans due to how it was planned. YG Entertainment announced the event just two days before the 10th anniversary, limited attendance to 40 people, and restricted participation to those with paid memberships. Fans also pointed out that the Weverse live broadcast lasted only about 10 minutes, while the Meet & Greet lasted less than 30 minutes.

The gifts given to fans after the event drew attention as well. BLACKPINK presented pink bouquets and small rice cake sets to their supporters. Some fans expressed the opinion that the items were too simple considering the symbolic significance of the 10th anniversary, with online comments stating things like “It was way too short for an anniversary event” and “It seems preparations were rushed.”

As controversy spread, the members apologized directly to fans through the live broadcast. Jisoo said, “We originally wanted to see as many people as possible, and we knew the 10th anniversary was a special day. But it seems there were communication issues. We are very sorry.”

In another statement, Jisoo expressed deeper feelings, saying, “This anniversary is a day filled with regret.” She added, “For 10 years, I wanted to only show my best side and be someone who brings happiness during tough times, but it weighs heavily on my heart to see so many BLINKs upset. I never forget that it is the BLINKs who have made BLACKPINK shine this much.”

The sight of member Jisoo crying as she left the event site further deepened fans’ sadness. Fans responded on social media with messages such as “It seems the members were very upset too,” “The blame shouldn’t fall on the members,” and “We need to distinguish between the problems in preparation and the members’ sincere intentions.”
