BLACKPINK Marks 10th Anniversary with Apologies for “Communication Errors” Among Members

BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa) celebrated its 10th anniversary on August 8. The group, which debuted in 2016 with songs “Whistle” and “Boom Bae,” held a “Meet & Greet” event at the National Museum of Korea in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, with 40 fans.

After communication issues were pointed out during event preparation, the members issued sincere apologies. Jisoo said, “We really wanted to see as many people as possible and were aware it was an important 10th-anniversary day. It seems there were problems with our communication. We are sorry.” She added, “We wanted to spend today happily and joyfully, but I want to apologize and say I love those BLINKs who might feel a bit disappointed.”

Jisoo apologized again through a fan community post. “I never forget that it is BLINKs who have made BLACKPINK shine like this. I am sorry once more for causing them disappointment. I am always grateful and love you all,” she wrote.

The other members also left thank-you messages. Lisa said, “Ten years have already passed. It was because of BLINKs that we were able to get here, through both happy and difficult moments. I am truly grateful and love you all for being with us throughout these long 10 years.” Jennie expressed her thanks by saying, “Thanks to you all, I have been able to achieve many dreams. Living as ‘Jennie’ alongside BLINKs has helped me get to know and love myself better.” Rosé encouraged everyone by saying, “Let’s continue to grow as BLINKs and BLACKPINK who support each other healthily and happily from now on.”

Since its debut, BLACKPINK has set numerous records in the music industry. In 2022, with its second studio album “BORN PINK,” the group simultaneously topped both the U.S. Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart Top 100. This achievement marked the first time in 21 years since Destiny’s Child had done so, making it a notable record for female groups.
