BABYMONSTER Marks 2nd Debut Anniversary with Release of “BAEMON NEWS 7”

BABYMONSTER released content titled “BAEMON NEWS 7” on April 1 to celebrate its 2nd debut anniversary. Over the past two years, the group has achieved steady growth, strengthened communication with fans, and demonstrated strong entertainment skills.

BABYMONSTER attracted significant industry attention as early as May 12, 2023, when YG Entertainment announced its lineup. All trainees who participated in the survival program “Last Evaluation” were included in the debut group. Initially, it was expected that not all seven members would debut, but thanks to fan support, they all ended up making their official debut. Member Ahyeon was unable to participate in the group’s first digital single, “BATTER UP” (released on November 27, 2023), due to health issues. However, the song performed by the six members generated 22.59 million views within 24 hours and surpassed 100 million views in 18 days, setting the highest and fastest view-count records among K-pop group debut songs.

On April 1, 2024, their official debut day, BABYMONSTER released its first mini-album, <BABYMONS7ER>, with Ahyeon back in the group. The title track, “SHEESH,” currently has approximately 397.91 million views on YouTube, maintaining the highest view count among all music videos released to date. Despite facing considerable pressure as YG Entertainment’s first girl group in seven years and as direct successors to BLACKPINK, the group overcame these challenges through its outstanding performances.

In November 2024, BABYMONSTER released its first full-length album, “DRIP,” and received widespread recognition for its live performance skills. ASA’s fast rap and Ahyeon’s high-pitched vocals in triple notes are often referred to as “killing parts,” and the group also delivered stable performances using only hand microphones on music show stages. On December 25, they proved their artistic capabilities by completing a one-take live performance for Japan’s YouTube channel “THE FIRST TAKE” and performing on an SBS New Year’s special stage using only hand microphones.
