'KPop Demon Hunters' Sets New Streaming Record One Year After Release

Netflix’s film “KPop Demon Hunters” has broken a new record as the most-streamed title on the platform one year after its release. Released on June 20 of last year, the film remained on global top-10 charts for 52 consecutive weeks, accumulating a total of 2 billion minutes viewed.

The film features the idol group HUNTR, composed of K-pop superstars Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Joy (Ji-young Yoo). The story follows how the members transform into demon hunters to protect fans from supernatural threats after their careers hit a plateau.

These chart performance figures represent the highest ever achieved by a Netflix film. It held the top spot in streaming rankings, surpassing major action films such as “Red Notice” and “Carry-On.” Viewership peaked in week 11, after which the film stayed within the top-10 rankings for the remaining 52 weeks.

Produced in collaboration with Sony Pictures Animation, the film was directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. The film’s soundtrack, titled “Golden,” has received double platinum certification in the United States.

Netflix is planning an exhibition called “KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience” to enhance fan engagement. This exhibition will be held at Netflix House inside King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania, offering visitors the chance to experience the film’s music, action sequences, and characters firsthand.
