JYP’s New Girl Group OURBIRTHDAY to Make Official Debut on August 19

The girl group OURBIRTHDAY, produced by JYP’s newly established subsidiary Innit Entertainment, will make its official debut on August 19 with its first single “Our Birthday.” This marks JYP’s first new girl group in approximately four years since NMIXX, and it is also the first team to be produced and managed by Innit Entertainment.

OURBIRTHDAY is a seven-member group consisting of three Koreans and four members from Asian countries. The members are Jo Hye-jin, Baby, Achiraya, Kuk Chorok, Shin Hye-won, Yoo, and Kirara. Among them, Jo Hye-jin draws attention as the overall winner of KBS 2TV’s “The Danthara,” a program in which JYP’s Creative Chief Officer (CCO) Park Jin-young served as a judge. Shin Hye-won became well-known through the audition show “R U Next?” produced by HYBE and Bellif Lab.

The international composition is another feature of OURBIRTHDAY. Members Yoo and Kirara are from Japan, Baby is from Taiwan, and Achiraya is from Thailand. The gathering of members from such diverse nationalities reflects JYP’s strategy for developing global artists.

Before their official debut, OURBIRTHDAY split into two sub-units to carry out pre-debut activities. First, the three members Jo Hye-jin, Baby, and Achiraya formed the “Side A” unit, while the four members Kuk Chorok, Shin Hye-won, Yoo, and Kirara formed the “Side B” unit. Both units presented the same song “HUNGRY” in different versions through music show performances and music videos.

This strategy was intended to showcase each unit’s skills and individuality first. Each unit was introduced to fans through various platforms such as music shows and music videos.

The reunion of the two units took place in the introduction film “[SYSTEM] CONNECTION ESTABLISHED,” released four days ago. This film served as content symbolizing the completion of their pre-debut phase and the transition toward their official debut, acting as a medium to present the full group image to fans.

The group name OURBIRTHDAY carries musical philosophy. It reflects their aspiration to “enjoy every moment freely as if it were their birthday and color ordinary daily life with their own unique style,” reflecting the musical tone and values the group pursues.

OURBIRTHDAY’s first single “Our Birthday” will be released at 6 p.m. on August 19 through major online music platforms.
