HONNE to Perform in Korea for 10th Anniversary, Remembering the Culture of Chanting Along

The British alternative pop duo HONNE is set to hold concerts in Korea to celebrate their 10th anniversary since Debut. The two-member group, consisting of Main Vocal Andy Clutterbuck and synthesizer player James Hatcher, expressed their special affection for Korea during a press conference held on the 14th in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

HONNE made their Debut in 2016 with their first studio album <Warm On A Cold Night>. James recalled, “I couldn’t believe it when I heard that tickets sold out instantly during our first performance in Korea.” He added, “When we started our career 10 years ago, we never thought we would gain popularity overseas,” noting that “the reaction from Korean fans was truly unique.”

The culture of “떼창” during their concerts in Korea left a particularly deep impression. James explained, “The moment the lyrics appeared on screen and the concert venue turned into a giant karaoke room, I still can’t forget that overwhelming chorus of everyone singing along.” Clutterbuck also said, “Thanks to Korean fans who kept posting comments on social media asking us to perform in Korea, we had the courage to pursue our first concerts here.”

To mark their 10th anniversary, they released a compilation album titled [HONNE - 10]. The album features 12 of their signature songs in new acoustic versions. Hatcher explained, “We received many personal messages from fans asking for acoustic versions to use at weddings,” adding that “this led us to decide to create a proper acoustic album.”

Clutterbuck also expressed optimism, saying, “The fans’ immediate positive reactions were always great whenever we included acoustic sets during performances,” and predicting that “it would allow them to experience a different kind of warmth and intimacy compared to our usual flashy sound.”

They also expressed interest in collaborating with NewJeans. James said, “When I heard NewJeans’ music, I felt it would match well with HONNE’s musical style and melodies.”

The concerts will take place from the 16th to the 18th at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul. Due to overwhelming ticket demand, an additional show was added at 2 p.m. on the 18th, bringing the total number of performances to four.
