K-Pop Brings South Korean and Japanese Teens Together

The Chungnam Province held the “Chungnam-Shizuoka K-POP Talk Café Camp” from the 3rd to the 7th, spanning a 4-night, 5-day period. This international exchange program aims to enable South Korean and Japanese youth to communicate and build friendships through K-POP, and it has been running consistently since 2017.

A total of 20 participants attended this year’s camp, including 10 students selected through open recruitment from Shizuoka Prefecture and 10 students from the Korea K-Pop High School. The participating students completed specialized training programs at the school, such as K-POP performances and girlhood hip-hop, while also spending time interacting with one another through dance and music.

At the end of the camp, a performance showcase was held where the participants presented the shows they had rehearsed together, sharing the results of their collaboration. In addition, they visited key industrial facilities, as well as cultural and tourist attractions in Chungnam, to directly experience the region’s industrial competitiveness and its historical and cultural resources.

An official from the Chungnam Province said, “Through this camp, South Korean and Japanese youth were able to understand each other better, build friendships, and further strengthen the foundation for future cooperation between the two regions.” They added, “Going forward, we will expand various international exchange programs that utilize Chungnam’s unique cultural content to continuously enhance the global capabilities and international networks of future generations.”
