XYG Unveils Robot Barista 4.0 with 1.3 Billion Won in Funding

XYG, a company specializing in physical AI, has launched the next-generation version of its robot barista system, “Baris Brew 4.0,” and completed a Series B funding round worth 130 billion won.

Baris Brew 4.0 is the fourth model in the “Baris” series, whose commercial viability has been proven through over 700,000 cups of beverage production. It represents a significant advancement not only due to key performance upgrades but also because it features a fully redesigned platform for operating spaces.

This model is the first in South Korea to include tea bag beverage manufacturing capabilities. It enables the production of various blended drinks such as Apple Chamomile Tea and Earl Grey Vanilla Milk Tea. The number of available menu items has increased to more than 60, roughly doubling from previous versions, and seasonal specials or space-specific recipes can be easily set up via the cloud.

With simultaneous production now available for all beverage types, the average processing speed has improved by over 20%. Additionally, to accommodate older users and those with limited skill levels, a large 55-inch digital signage display has been installed at the front, along with an AI-based accessible kiosk, significantly enhancing usability.

In this funding round, XYG secured 130 billion won from financial and strategic investors including Koron Investment, UNT Investment, and Crit Ventures. The company’s strong performance last year, achieving annual sales of over 6 billion won as Baris Brew sales accelerated, played a key role in attracting this investment.

The funds will be used for developing and testing the two-armed humanoid robot “DEUX,” further improving the robot intelligence system “BrainX,” and expanding data collection infrastructure. XYG is currently in the final stages of testing robot building solutions integrated with autonomous robots, while DEUX is set to undergo pilot trials in real-world stores.

Recently, XYG was selected as a core member of a government-funded project by the Ministry of Science and ICT titled “Independent AI Foundation Model.” The company is responsible for developing and testing robot intelligence models based on humanoid form factors.
