ISEGYE IDOL Releases 5th Anniversary Fan Song

The six-member virtual girl group ISEGYE IDOL is releasing a special single titled “Smile For You” to express gratitude to its fans ahead of the group’s 5th anniversary since its Debut in 2021. The track is set to go live simultaneously on music platforms worldwide, including genie, at 6 p.m. on the 19th.

This special single was created to show appreciation to fans who have consistently supported the group throughout its career. The Title Track, “Smile For You,” is a medium-tempo ballad featuring warm acoustic guitar sounds, and its meaning was enhanced as members of ISEGYE IDOL personally participated in writing the lyrics.

ISEGYE IDOL was formed through auditions organized by internet broadcaster Wooagut (real name Oh Young-taek). The group consists of six members: Aine, Jingburger, Lilpa, Jurrur, Gosegu, and Bichan. Starting with their Debut song “RE : WIND” in 2021, they released subsequent tracks such as “Winter Spring,” “Another World,” “KIDDING,” “Misty Rainbow,” “Stargazers,” and “Be My Light,” achieving success on music charts. Their first mini album, “Be My Light,” even ranked first in Yes24’s weekly album sales last November.

As domestic virtual idols transition from the subculture sphere to become a core part of mainstream popular culture, ISEGYE IDOL is regarded as a leading group that has driven trends since the early days of this market. The global virtual idol and virtual streamer market is projected to expand from approximately $1.41638 billion (about 2.303 trillion won) in 2024 to around $3.8524 billion (about 5.5224 trillion won) by 2030.

In South Korea, PLAVE has proven the commercial viability of this industry through its massive popularity, and new groups such as LEVELS’ B THE HOOD are entering the market one after another, expanding its diversity. ISEGYE IDOL’s choice to release a gratitude track dedicated to fans instead of a new song can be interpreted as a strategy to strengthen ties with existing Fandoms amid an increasing influx of new IPs.
