Kian84 and Lee Soo-ji Win Entertainment Awards at the Baeksang Arts Awards

The 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards were held on May 8 at COEX Hall D in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Kian84 and Lee Soo-ji received the awards for Best Male and Best Female Entertainer respectively, with Lee Soo-ji achieving the honor of winning consecutively for the second year.

In his acceptance speech, Kian84 said, “I ended up in broadcasting after working as a cartoonist, and here I am now,” adding, “I’m always amazed and grateful to everyone who has been by my side.” Lee Soo-ji, through tears, expressed her determination by saying, “I will work harder to ensure that those who quietly fulfill their roles can receive recognition.” She also stated her commitment to the future by saying, “I will continue to love my family and do what makes people smile.”

This year’s Baeksang Arts Awards were hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Bae Su-ji, and Park Bo-gum, who guided the event. The ceremony was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4, allowing viewers across the country to watch together.

Notably, a new musical category was introduced to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Korean music theater. This reflects the evolution of the awards into a festival that breaks down genre boundaries and covers the full spectrum of K-content, bringing together figures from TV, film, theater, and musicals. The Baeksang Arts Awards are the most prestigious awards in South Korea’s broadcasting, film, theater, and musical industries, and this year’s event saw the participation of many key figures from each field, demonstrating the strength of Korean content.
