Park Jin-young Unveils Three Key Initiatives for PANOMENON: Awards in 2027 and Festival in 2028

Park Jin-young, JYP’s Chief Creative Officer (CCO) and co-chair of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee, revealed the three core projects under PANOMENON at the National Museum of Modern Art in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 27th.

PANOMENON is a large-scale, privately driven event centered around K-pop, created as a neologism combining “Fan” and “Phenomenon.” Committee chair Park Jin-young stated that the goal of these initiatives is to determine how K-pop and K-culture can be sustained as valuable tools for future generations and as a crucial driving force that strengthens the country, given the current favorable opportunities they face.

The three key initiatives under PANOMENON are award ceremonies, festivals, and the construction of K-culture centers. The “PANOMENON Awards” ceremony is scheduled to take place in December 2027, while the “PANOMENON Festival,” modeled after events like Coachella, is planned for May 2028. The festival will be held in major cities around the world rather than just in South Korea, with Los Angeles serving as the first location.

Additionally, plans exist to build “K-culture centers” in key cities globally. These centers will be multi-functional facilities featuring a concert hall capable of holding 20,000 people, along with exhibition spaces for government agencies and businesses. Park Jin-young emphasized that progress is being made very rapidly as these three initiatives advance simultaneously.

Regarding the importance of K-culture and fandom industries, Park Jin-young explained that if South Korea becomes a leader in this field, it will not only benefit K-pop and K-culture but also create excellent opportunities for young people worldwide.

The award ceremonies will annually identify and honor the top 10 most active fandoms in various categories through research and analysis. Park Jin-young was appointed as the first co-chair of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee, a minister-level institution established directly under the president last September.
