LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, and KATSEYE’s Collaborative Song Reaches No. 38 on Billboard Chart

Yunjin of LE SSERAFIM was preparing to enter university. After years of intense K-pop training that left her exhausted, she had submitted graduate school applications and even paid the required deposits in pursuit of a new path. The next day, she received a call from LE SSERAFIM. “It really felt like the stars were showing me where I should go,” Yunjin recalled. Two weeks later, she boarded a flight to South Korea. This story gained new significance this month as LE SSERAFIM released a collaborative song titled “Iconic by Mistake” with HYBE’s other female groups, ILLIT and KATSEYE.

The collaborative song was released on June 12 and reached No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also climbed to No. 21 on Spotify’s Global Weekly chart. This marks the first time Korean female groups have released a formal collaborative song without forming a supergroup. The song contains lyrics aimed at online haters.

Following its release, the song rose from No. 25 in the previous week to No. 21 on Spotify’s Global Weekly chart, while ranking at No. 32 on other Spotify metrics. Combined, the fan communities of all three groups saw a 5.23% increase in total subscribers after the release.

The song’s success was driven by the high production quality and performance standards of all three groups, along with strong support from their existing fanbases. This factor helped maintain sustained interest even after the initial release.

LE SSERAFIM released its second full-length album, “PUREFLOW Pt. 1,” on May 22. The album begins with Yunjin conducting one-on-one interviews with each member. “The entire narrative started with us, and the story was built around that,” Yunjin explained.

Currently on a world tour, LE SSERAFIM has added new cities to its itinerary, including Washington D.C. and Florida.
