"Marriage and Dating Are Different" Song Ji Hyo Shares Honest Thoughts on Marriage

In a video uploaded to her YouTube channel on July 9, Song Ji Hyo invited actor Noksal to engage in an in-depth conversation about the differences between marriage and dating, as well as the realities of married life.

Noksal, who got married in 2022, had his first son the year after his wedding and welcomed a second son last October, making him a father to two children currently. In the video, he shared his honest experiences regarding married life and parenting. Explaining that “marriage and dating are different,” he emphasized the fundamental distinction between the two by saying, “In marriage, one must show more care and understanding toward the person living together.”

Noksal provided specific details about the significant differences between dating and married life. He said, “When dating, people can spend time apart and have their own homes, giving them time to sort out their thoughts mentally,” adding bluntly, “But once married, there’s really no place to run away to.” He further highlighted the importance of communication in shared living spaces by saying, “Even if one person is in the living room and another in the bedroom, since they’re sharing the same space, they need to talk well and truly understand each other.” On the positive side, he described his current married life as happy, saying, “It’s fun now. We do many hobbies together and are raising our kids well.”

After listening to Noksal’s story, Song Ji Hyo revealed her own honest views on marriage. She expressed the psychological gap between her longing for an ideal marriage and her actual free lifestyle by saying, “When I hear such talks, sometimes I feel like getting married, but as I live my life in reality, the idea of marriage fades away.” She lightly described her situation by adding, “Maybe that’s why I’m like this, like an older sister.”

In response, Noksal cleverly pointed out Song Ji Hyo’s psychological contradiction. He gently teased her conflicting attitudes by saying, “Shouldn’t the order be right? Shouldn’t you find someone to marry first? You keep saying ‘I won’t,’ ‘My thoughts about marriage have disappeared,’ and ‘Suddenly I want to get married.’” Song Ji Hyo immediately retorted, “One should think about marriage first, even before thinking about a man,” showcasing their sibling-like closeness and sharp wit.

Last December, when Song Ji Hyo appeared on “Running Man,” she publicly confessed to having been in a long-term relationship in the past. At that time, she specifically revealed that she had known her last boyfriend for about 4 to 5 years before dating him and had spent roughly 8 years together.
